Title: Went out with Lily

“Did I keep you waiting?” Lily asked as she pulled over in front of the gate where I had been waiting for her for the past five minutes.
“Not really. Just five minutes of wait,” I replied to her as I hopped in the front seat of the white jeep she brought.
“So, how is your husband?” She asked and stressed the ‘husband’ probably to tease me, but I glared hard at her, and she shrugged.
“Did I say something wrong? Mr. Miles is your husband now, and…”
“Whatever!” I rolled my eyes and fastened the seatbelt. “Are we going or not?”
“Alright, my lady. I’m on it,” She rolled her eyes as she started the ignition and the ride began. I had no idea where she was taking me, but I hoped for it to be full of fun. That was the only thing I needed right now.
“Why did you take the day off work?” I asked out of the blue moon, and she glanced at me.
“Nothing. I just needed some time alone,” she shrugged, and I nodded. She has been working hard and she really deserved that.
“So, how is life with Mr. Miles? Is he treating you nice?” She asked, curiosity resounding in her voice. Of course, I knew it was one of the reasons she asked us to go out together. She wanted to get words out of me.
“It’s pretty cool but weird,” I replied to her, and she looked at me briefly.
“What’s weird?” She asked as she took her attention back to the road, her hands moving the steering wheel as she drove down the road.
“Mr. Miles has been acting weird, and I really don’t understand him,” I complained, trying to wrap my head around the things that were happening, but nothing was coming true.
“What do you mean? Did he do something to you? I thought you both agreed not to have sex during the fake marriage stuff?” She raised her eyebrows as she glanced at me.
“It’s not about sex, Lily. I told you my boss is a grumpy idiot, right?” I asked her, and she chuckled softly as she nodded. I have talked to Lily a few times about Mr. Miles and how cold he is back at the office, so she knew about him very well.
“Hmm. You did. What happened?”
“He is acting weird. He is not that grumpy idiot I used to know. When I moved in yesterday, he called and told me he had something urgent to do in Texas, so he left earlier that day. He even apologized to me,” My heart almost left my chest as Lily matched the break and the car made a loud screeching sound before it stopped abruptly.
“What was that? You almost got us killed!” I held my chest as my heart pumped aggressively against my chest, but she was too shocked to say anything. Her eyes widened as though they were going to fall off their sockets.
“He did what? Mr. Grumpy apologized to you?” She cupped her cheeks in her palms and blinked her eyes a few times dramatically, and I scoffed.
“Stop being so dramatic. Anyway, that’s not all. He waited for me to join him before he had breakfast, and when I called him earlier, he answered the phone even though he was in the middle of a meeting,” Her eyes narrowed even more, and she covered her mouth.
“Oh, my freaking goodness! This is giving me a Wattpad guys vibe. Could it be that Mr. Miles is in love with you already?” She shrieked, and I scoffed.
“You must be crazy. How is that even possible? Is it today that he fell in love with me? Far from that…”
“What possible explanation do you have for this? I mean, listen to yourself and be the judge of this. Can’t you see…”
“Can we go, please?” I rolled my eyes at her and turned my face away.
“We are definitely going to talk about that later, I promise you,” She stated before she started the car, and the ride to wherever she was taking us, began.
“That’s not possible,” I muttered when what she said earlier crossed my mind. Although I have never seen Mr. Miles with any woman, rumors had it that he only deals with classy girls, and I’m nowhere near his standard. Not that he was my type either, anyway. But come to think of it, why did we sign a marriage contract? I thought to myself, but quickly dismissed the thoughts because I was sure that whatever was happening had nothing to do with him being in love with me.
“And now, we are here,” Lily’s voice pulled me out of my deep thoughts, and I looked around to find us parked in front of the usual amusement park we usually go to have fun then before we both got pretty busy with work and all that.
“Yay! It’s good to be here again,” She squeaked excitedly as she got rid of her seatbelt and stepped out of the car. By then, I already stepped out of the car too.
“I’ve missed being here so much,” I had to admit as a small smile formed on my lips.
“Come here, darling. Let’s go have fun to the fullest,” She grabbed my hand and pulled me as we both advanced toward the entrance. As expected, the place was filled with many people who had come to have fun.
“What game should we play first? Should we go for rollercoaster first?” Lily looked at me and asked.
“Let’s ride a horse first,” I pouted my lips, and she rolled her eyes.
“That’s for kids,”
“Then consider me a kid,” I winked at her and rushed off to where the horses were. We got on a horse each and the ride began. It was filled with fun and I couldn’t be less happy that Lily brought me here as if she knew I’d be bored at home today.
After we were done riding the horse, we left for the rollercoaster section where we hopped on the rollercoaster. I was afraid of heights, but with Lily holding my hand tightly, I got the confidence I’d always lacked. We rode the rollercoaster-like our life depended on it, and just like before, I threw up as soon as we got off.
“We should get some rest now, babe,” I said weakly as I sat on the long bench.
“No, May. Let’s go win a teddy bear at the claw machine. Please go with me. You know you are good at it,” She pouted her lips as she nudged my arm, and I rolled my eyes. Left with no choice, I left with her to the section where the claw machine was, but just before we got there, I saw a familiar face. My heart sank into my stomach when I realized that the person was Oscar, my ex-boyfriend, and seeing him holding hands with a young lady as they smiled heartily sent a dagger that pierced through my chest.
Slowly, I clenched my fingers into a tight fist and gritted my teeth until it started to hurt, but the pain was nothing, compared to the one I felt in my heart. Oscar had never agreed to go to the amusement park with me, and here he was, smiling with another woman barely three weeks after our break-up.
“Why are you not mov…” Lily’s voice trailed off when she saw what I was seeing, and she sighed.
“We should leave here, May,” She held my hand and at that time, Oscar looked in our direction and a smirk laced up his lips.
“Oh, you are here? It has been a while, ex-girlfriend,” His smirk dissipated into a grin, and I bit my bottom lip…
