Chapter 1483
Jamie didn't take the milk from Ryan. "It's not necessary. Charlie can't have milk right now. He's on a restricted diet."
"Well, then you should keep it for yourself. You're looking too thin and need to take care of your health too," Ryan insisted, holding out the milk. "It's nothing extravagant, just two cartons, and we've known each other forever. No need to be so formal with me." Winnie glanced between Ryan and her sister, her smile growing. Just yesterday, she had told Jamie that a good man would come along, one who wouldn't care about her past but would see her for who she truly was. And here he was!
When Jamie hesitated, Winnie reached over and took the milk. "Thank you! I'm Jamie's sister, Winnie. What's your name?"
"I'm Ryan," he introduced himself briefly, but his eyes kept drifting toward Jamie.
Winnie didn't miss this, remembering how she had once looked at Jack with the same affection. Clearly, Ryan cared deeply for Jamie.
She knew her sister had reservations after her painful experience in her last relationship, but Jamie couldn't be alone forever. Charlie was young now and needed his mother, but one day he would grow up and have his own life. Would Jamie end up all alone? As Winnie started to plot how she might help bring the two together, a woman in a striking red dress stormed over, grabbed the milk from her hands, and smashed it to the floor.
"What on earth are you doing?" Winnie gasped, her expression shifting to anger. "This was ours! If you're looking to throw a fit, why don't you try the psych ward downstairs?"
Ryan looked shocked as he tried to pull the woman away, but she slapped his hand away and pointed accusingly at the two sisters. "Do you two have any shame? Seducing someone's husband, playing the mistress. Is this fun for you?"This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
"What? You're married?" Winnie looked at Ryan, appalled. If he was married, why had he been visiting Jamie and looking at her like that? It was disgusting.
Jamie tried to explain, but the
woman wasn't willing to listen. She
had gone through Ryan's phone
before and found an old picture oft
Jamie, back when she was a
student, looking young and innocent. Though it was just a single photo, the woman hadn't been able to let it go.
Yesterday, however, she saw Jamie's name in Ryan's contacts. They had only recently added each other as friends, and in her mind, there was no such thing as a purely platonic friendship between a man aman and a woman. They had to be having an affair.
So, she had started following Ryan and now felt vindicated, catching them together. "Still claiming you're just friends?" she sneered. "You two have no shame, lying through your teeth Do I need to catch you in bed to make you confess?"
"Please watch your words," Jamie said, remaining calm but firm. She hadn't come to the hospital to start a fight, but she wasn't going to let a stranger accuse her of being a homewrecker. As she tried to reason with the woman, Ben received the hospital's paternity test report.
