Beverly

Chapter 19

Clyde Dante

“Is this Mr. Dante?” I was having my breakfast when a call came.

“Yes, why?”

“The new car has arrived and we already delivered it to your house along with a new iPhone.” My body froze hearing it.

“Give it all back to the buyer.”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Dante, but you’re the one who bought it.” What?”

“I didn’t buy it. You need to-”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Dante, we can’t do that.” He ended the call and I looked at it disbelief.

“What is it?” My mom asked.

“Beverly.”

“She called you?” Grandma asked.

“No… she sent me a car and a new IPhone to my house in New York.” I said and suddenly I have no appetite. I got up from my seat and walked up to my room. I called Jack for help.

“Hey brother, how are you doing?” Jack answered.

“Jack! I want you to help me.”

“Okay… what is it?”

“Go to my house and there’s a car and an iPhone delivered to my house. Send them back…”

“Send them back? What do you mean?”

“I’ll explain it later. I will give you an address and you need to send them back to that address. Call the girl and tell her that I don’t want it.” I ended the call and sent Beverly’s address along with her contact to Jack.

I sat down on my bed and sighed big time. I can’t believe she really sent me that.

Suddenly a call came and it’s Jack.

“What?”

“Dude, I tried to call her but the phone number is not available anymore. I tried to call the number of her house but she moved away.”

“Okay, thanks. I will go back to New York myself.” I hissed and suddenly someone bursted into the room.

“You’re not going back to New York.” Grandma said as she shook my head.

“What? Why?”

“A promise is a promise besides you lied to me so you need to pay for that sin here.” Grandma said glaring at me.

“So?”

“I don’t want it! I want to give it back!”

“She destroyed your car and your phone, take it. Why bother give it back?”

“I don’t want to deal with her again.” I said and my grandma laughed. I looked at her weirdly.

“So you hate her now?”

“Of course. I mean… she’s a bitch anyway.”

“A bitch? Well… you’ll see later on who the bitch is.” She said and then she left. I ran my hands through my hair and sighed big time. I walked out from my room and walked down to find grandma but instead of grandma… Anna appeared.

“Hey… wanna grab dinner together?” She asked and I found myself nodding.

“Yeah, let’s go.”

“Can I come?” Grandma suddenly appeared out of nowhere. I turned to Anna and she looked uncomfortable.

“Grandma… nex-”

“No… no… it’s okay.” Anna said and she smiled a little bit. Grandma smiled excitedly and she grabbed my hand.

“Let’s go.” Grandma said. We walked out from the house and got into the car. Anna sat in front with me and I drove out from my house.

Anna tried to talk to me all the time and it’s kinda okay but I wish she can talk to grandma more. Grandma oftenly be the one who is asking her questions first. We decided to eat at a vietnamese restaurant. We walked in and sat down. Anna sat beside me and grandma sat right in front of me. Grandma excused herself to the toilet and suddenly Anna linked her arm to mine.

“Next time… can you just come to my place?”

“Why?” I raised my eyebrows when she said that.

“It’s more comfortable to spend time with you.”

“So you’re saying that you don’t like grandma to tag along?” I asked her.

“No no… I just want to spend time alone with you.” She leaned her head to my arm.

“We often spend time together and it’s kinda comfortable to be with grandma sometimes.”

“Clyde… how about we date again?” She asked as she kissed my cheek. At the same time, grandma’s back to her seat.

“I’m so excited to eat… when will the food come?” My grandma asked.

“It will be here soon.” I said.

“Clyde, can you take me to the mart after this? I want to buy some groceries.” I nodded.

“Grandma, we’re going to watch a movie.”

“We do?” I asked her and she nodded.

“Oh… really?”

“I’ll take you to the mart and then we can go to the cinema.”

“But it starts at 7.” Anna looked at me cutely and kissed my cheek. I turned to grandma and she sighed.

“Just drop me home then…”

“No… we can watch it tomorrow. I’m going to take grandma to the mart.” It’s not a weird thing for me to take grandma to the mart. It’s more like a routine. Besides… I will always choose my family first than other people.

“Fine.” She said in a piss tone. The food came and we all eat it in silence. No one talks… we just eating without talking. It’s like eating with strangers. It became awkward suddenly.

I mean… me and Anna never went out with grandma before. Not only grandma but she never went out with my mom too. Me and Anna used to date and sometimes my family asked her to have dinner together but she never comes.

I told her that I will drop her home first and as we arrived in front of her house. I walked her to the door.

“Clyde… let’s date again. I promise we’ll make it right this time.” Anna said as she circled her arms around my neck.

“Okay.” I said and she squealed. She hugged me tightly and kissed my lips.

“Good… tomorrow we’re going to watch the movie okay?”

“Yeah, I’ll pick you up tomorrow night.” I smiled and she walked in. I walked back to my car and got inside.

“You’re back together now?”

“Yeah.” I answered grandma.

“Okay.”
