Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 163

Chapter 163

Sofia’s POV

I pushed my hair out from my face and reached forward to pick up my glass of wine from the table

before me to take a sip from it. It had been brought to me by one of the guard’s and I had declined all

the drinks offered from lots of waiters and waitresses, because Luca had asked me to, for my own

sake, because apparently it might have gotten spiked or poisoned without my own knowledge. I placed

the drink back on the table before turning my head around to glance around once again, like I’ve been

doing for over twenty minutes, ever since Luca had said he had to go speak to someone and won’t take Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

long to come back to me.

I sucked in a deep breath and puffed it out, dragging my eyes off a few people’s faces who had been

staring pointedly at me. The table which was assigned to Luca and I was in the front of the whole place,

and it was obvious for the highly respected ones, which had automatically made this particular table in

the center of the whole place. I squirmed a little, and then I lifted my gaze to focus on a few spots

before me, when the noise in the crowd had increased a little, because the newly wedded couple were

about to cut their first cake together as a couple.

The newly wedded wife was all smiles and grins and I watched as the love was literally radiating off her

whole body in waves, and I knew that I was the complete opposite of what she currently was on my

own wedding day.

I could remember Luca coming to stand beside me as we both cut the cake, with our faces blank and

our bodies standing stiffly against each other’s. I watched as they both cut the cake together and

everyone applauded loudly as soon as they were done.

I pushed my hair away from my face and stared down at my thighs, as soon as I noticed the

videographer pointing his camera directly into my face, completely catching me off guard.

After a few seconds had passed, I threw my eyes around a little, trying to see if I’d be able to sight

where he was at the moment. I was starting to feel really bored and restless at this point, but my mind

was convincing me that if I’d be able to settle my eyes over him, that I’d be a little bit more settled

down. After still not catching a glimpse of him, I picked up my phone and checked the time, it was

currently almost ten p.m in the night, and surprisingly, even with how bored I was feeling at the

moment, I wasn’t feeling sleepy one bit.

I was suddenly wishing Ryan had come with us here tonight, at least I’d have been rest assured that I

wouldn’t be bored for a moment, because I’d spend every moment here talking with him.

Ryan and I had gotten even closer as the day went gy and the conversation flowed way more easily

than it usually does before. He also stays by and just rest against one part or the wall in my painting

room, whenever I’d be painting.

I had been insecure at first, about the thought of someone watching me paint, when I was just learning

and was still going to be making a lot of messy drawings, but after a couple of hours of drawing with

him just quietly observing in the background without saying a thing, I had learnt to grow to get used to

his presence behind me, and to also get comfortable with it as well.

My painting journey officially started a couple of days ago, and if I was going to be honest with myself, I

wasn’t all that good with it, but at least, I could speak about the fact that I had improved a little with my

painting which I did today, compared to the one that I did on my first day.

I pushed my hair out my face and picked up my drink to sip a little of the cold liquid, it felt a little hot at

the back of my throat, which was a sigh that there was a little bit of alcohol in it, but then the wine was

really fruity and tastes really good, and I savored each drop as it slide down my throat each time.

I shifted on my seat a little and was about to check what the time says on my phone at the moment,

when I noticed a dark shadow fall over my head, and I glanced up instantly, with my heart slamming

hard against my chest, and my eyes landed on the face of a girl which looked really stunning and…

excited?

Before I could even begin to gather my thoughts, the girl moved a little on my feet in a bouncing

motion, and she was gushing out in the next second. “Oh my gosh, hi!!”

I blinked at her confusingly, but I felt my lips start to stretch out in a smile, even though I had no idea I’d

who she was, or what it was that she was currently doing here– her extremely contagious smile on her

face was enough to trigger my own smile, and I felt the one on my face stretch out even more.

“Uh, hello?” I started to say and I breathed out a small laugh that sounded a little bit awkward in my ear,

right before I continued.

“I’m sorry, I have no idea of who you are.” I ended up saying, the smile on my face starting to melt

away after a fleeting moment, but the curiosity and skepticism was still very obvious on my face.

“Oh, I’m so sorry about that. I’m Kayla and it’s really wonderful to meet you, to finally meet you in

person.” The girl whose skin was literally gleaming at the moment gushed out earnestly almost

immediately, and I blinked at her a couple of times, because if what she had just said was supposed to

trigger a memory in my head, then it had failed woefully because my head was currently blank.

“Um…” I started to say but this gorgeous looking girl – Kayla, cut into what I was about to say smoothly.

“I saw a lot of your wedding pictures online and I think you’re really stunning, even more stunning in

person, and I decided to stop by to say hello.” The lady continued and that was when it all started to

dawn on me.

“Oh.” I mumbled after a moment, feeling a little bit awkward and dumb, because what was I even

supposed to say to that.

Thank you?

“Uh, thank you? I guess.” I finally ended up murmuring after a couple of moments. The lady didn’t even

seemed fazed by my reply, and had only nodded at me with a small grin, just as she continued to start

to speak, and I started to wonder if I was supposed to offer her one or the chairs here at Luca’s and my

table… but I had no idea if he was going to appreciate me allowing strangers to sit here… or if it was

even cool for me to speak to them to begin with.

I glanced around almost immediately, trying to think of something I could use in dismissing this lady

that seemed extremely nice and lovely and really enthusiastic.

“Are you searching for your husband?” The lady asked and I snapped my head up to stare up at her,

wondering how she had figured out who it was that I was searching for.

“He’s over there,” The lady continued to speak before I could even start to reply.

“Over where? You’ve met him?” I asked after a moment and I watched as she gave a firm nod of her

head, before pointing her finger backwards, and past a lot of tables and corners, before my eyes finally

settled on that of Luca’s.

I could have sworn that I’d looked past this particular spot a hundred times, while I had been staring

around the whole place in search of him.

And I wasn’t expecting him to be staring at me as well, and for our eyes to lock gazes, past a lot of

tables.

I kent on staring at him after a couple of moments and watched as he nodded his head once, and then

I lowered my gaze and turned my head around to ficus my gaze on Kayla.

“I saw him first and even got introduced to him, and he gave me permission to come say hello to you.”

Kayla had started to speak instantly and I blinked at her, as I tried to slow down my fast racing

heartbeat, which was due to how intense the pull I had felt after locking gaze with Luca, a few moments

ago.

“You got introduced to him?” I asked before swallowing and nodding my head a little, “That’s great.” I

completed my sentence a second later, feeling a weird feeling start to grow in the pit of my stomach as

soon as it had registered in my head that Kayla had been introduced to Luca, and had probably held a

conversation with Witt him, when I had been here almost these while, feeling bored and lonely because

the person who had promised to stay beside me throughout this particular event, had been busy getting

friendly with pretty and outspoken Kayla…

“My husband introduced us together.” Kayla’s next words sank into my head, cutting into my train of

thoughts and making me halt my thoughts instantly.

I blinked at her a couple of times, breathing out.

“Huh? You’re married?” I asked dumbly and I watched as she nod her head once as a smile bloomed

out on her cheeks, and in the next second, she was stretching her left hand towards me, and I noticed

the ring on her fourth finger instantly.

“Oh…” I started to say, feeling dumb all of a sudden, and then I decided to continue after a few

seconds.

“Uh, congratulations on your wedding as well.”

“Thank you! It’s been a couple of years though.” Kayla gushed out and I stared wide eyed at her, and

there I was, thinking she wasn’t even married yet, only to be unforced that she isn’t even recently

married but have been married for over two years.

“I – that’s honestly amazing.” I gushed out, genuinely meaning what I had just said, because it seemed

like she really had been happy in her said marriage, and I nodded as happy for her about that.

“I know, right?” She agreed instantly and continued. “He’s over there beside your husband.”

“Your husband is friends with mine?” I asked unbelievably and watched as she nodded her head

enthusiastically before turning her head around to point in the direction she had pointed at before, and

my eyes landed on Luca’s body almost instantly, and our eyes locked for a moment, before I

remembered that I was supposed to be staring at her husband at the moment, and not mine. I dragged

my eyes off Luca’s face to the man beside him wgo was currently saying something to Luca with a grin

on his face.
