Bedmates Soulmates

CHAPTER 81

Out Of Her Damn Mind

A long minute later, she put away her phone.

'He probably doesn't want to hear my voice right now," Kira muttered.

After the scene at the hospital carpark yesterday, Austyn froze her out.

He didn't speak to her for the whole night.

He slept in the study.

He turned a deaf ear to her greeting at breakfast this morning.

He didn't even look at her.

It was a thorough silent treatment.

Kira squeezed her phone when she thought of his stony face.

He could have at least told her what she did wrong.

She just stated the truth about him and Kayleigh, then he went all hot under the collar.

'Humph, two can play at that game,' she thought. 'If he's not talking to me, I'm not talking to him."

Kira said goodbye to Lexi and bounded out of the office.

She was going to call Giana for a night out when her phone rang.

The caller ID showed 'Mr Liam Cane.'

Kira remembered his kind offer of companionship at the hospital the other day.

He was the first person to show up when she was feeling her loneliest.

'Hello, Mr Cane.' Kira greeted him with a cheerful voice

'Are you off work now?' Liam's mellifluous voice was clear on the line.

"Um, yes, as a matter of fact."

'Just as I thought. I'm waiting for you at the street corner. Just turn right when you get out of the building and walk ahead for about a hundred and fifty metres. Come and find me. I'm taking you out to dinner tonight. Before she could say anything, the call went dead.

He didn't give her a chance to turn down the offer.

Kira tugged at her ear.

Should she call him back and say no?

But that would make it the third time she rejected his invitation for dinner.

He might be offended.

Besides, he had helped her out so many times.

She owed him a huge thank-you.

Maybe this dinner could be her chance.

Kira made up her mind and set off down the street.

But Of Her Dann Mind

Two minutes later, she reached the intersection.

There were plenty of workers leaving office at this time, but no sign of Liam,

She called him.

'Hello, Mr Cane. I'm here, but I don't see you."

'Turn around."

Kira whirled around and came face to face with a huge bouquet of roses.

There must be at least two, three dozen of the exquisitely arranged red Naomis.novelbin

Their sweet, subtle fragrance permeated the air.

Kira backed off a step.

Her eyes almost popped out of her head. 'Mr Cane, this is..."

She was at a loss for words.

Liam held up the hand-tied bouquet. 'Beautiful flowers, for a beautiful girl.

He flashed a dazzling smile at her.

"I can't.." Kira shook her head, still dazed. "I thought we were just having dinner."

We are, but there's no law against giving my dinner guest a gift, is there?"

"I can't accept this. It's, ah, it's too much."

'Come on, it's just some petals. I can hold the bouquet for you for now. Take it home after dinner. The flowers can live up to two weeks."

Before Kira could say anything, he pointed to a car idling next to him. 'Let's go. I've booked a restaurant."

The candy red Bentley Continental GT was drawing quite a number of eyes.

Pedestrians shuffled in for a closer look, gawking at both the car and its strikingly handsome owner.

Kira got into the car before someone whipped out their phone to take photos.

Liam circled round to the driver's side, put the bouquet on the backseat, and drove off.

Two hundred kilometres away, Kai was behind the wheels as well.

He'd left the Hummer at home and taken the company car, a Range Rover SVAutobiography.

The SUV barrelled down the highway to Farindon at 70 miles per hour.

Austyn reclined in the backseat, a laptop on his knee.

He was skimming a report from Villaroman, the director of the e-commerce division.

Kai kept one eye on the road and the other on the rearview mirror.

When he glimpsed Austyn closing the laptop lid, he ventured, 'Boss, do you want to give Young Madam a call?

Why? Austyn leaned back in the seat and massaged his temples.

'The trip to Farindon will take several days. I think it's best if Young Madam is informed."

Promoplex Energy was a subsidiary of the M Group.

In addition to meeting with the CEO, Austyn was also scheduled to attend several meetings with suppliers and potential clients.

They might have to stay at Farindon till Friday.

Austyn's eyes flicked over to the rearview mirror above the

'Does she pay your salary?

""Huh? No, of course."

'Does she pay mine?"

""Uh, no?"

Then why do you need to report our itinerary to her?"

'Sorry, Boss. Kai grimaced.

The assistant, feeling duly chastised, did not mention the subject again.

But in his heart, he grumbled, 'I was just trying to help him patch things up with Kira. And this is the thanks.

I get. No good deed goes unpunished indeed. Fine, I'll butt out and watch the boss solve his own marital trouble. See how long it's going to take him."

Austyn t

tossed the laptop onto the seat next to him.

He closed his eyes and pinched the centre of his forehead.

-The scene at the hospital kept replaying in his mind.

Her whispered words had enraged him.

How could she say he loved Kayleigh?

How could she be so blind?

Austyn had moved up the business trip to get away from her.

If he saw her right now, he wasn't sure he could keep his cool.

He so wanted to grab her shoulders with both hands and shake some sense into that thick skull of hers.

To think he loved Kayleigh!

She must be out of her damn mind.
