Bedmates Soulmates

CHAPTER 22

Sidetracked

'Close your eyes.

Austyn's deep voice had gone hoarse.

He nibbled her ear, a punishment for her not paying attention.

Kira's lips were parted, panting.

She closed her eyes, her heart beating a mile a minute

She would've moaned out loud if his lips weren't pressed so firmly on hers.

Wait, stop!

She'd come here to butter him up.

How did it turn into a makeout session?

Kira blamed herself for her inability to withstand temptation.

No, it was all his fault.

The man's thin lips were too sensual, his voice too hypnotising.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

His strong arms provided a sanctuary, shielding her from all her troubles in the real world.

But she had to come back down to earth eventually.

Kira squirmed and tried to get out of his embrace.

Her mission was not accomplished yet.

But Austyn's big hand on the small of her back quashed her struggles easily.

Her petite frame fit snugly in his arms.

Kira wiggled her butt, trying to scoot off his lap.

Austyn's breathing grew heavier.

They had been sharing a bed for a year.

His body was conditioned to react to hers.

Her silky long hair tickled the skin on his neck, her sweet, intoxicating scent drawing him in like an aphrodisiac.

Her hands were small, but their touch was electric.

He ran a possessive hand over her back, luxuriating in the feel of her warm, smooth skin through the thin cotton fabric of her blouse. Austyn's pulse was hammering through his veins.

The seductress on his lap was still twisting this way and that, oblivious to the flames of desire she'd ignited in him.

'Stop moving!

Austyn's husky voice delivered a warning.

The M Group's president took great pride in his willpower.

When he set out on a task, he meant to finish it.

But the minute she walked in, his plan of reviewing the contracts went out the window.

She had an inexplicable way of blundering past the barricades he set and making him forget himself.

She must be a witch, Austyn concluded, for he was under her spell.

He explored the delightful taste of her mouth, bis million-dollar contracts forgotten.

Kira wanted to protest, but her lips were occupied..

Austyn swivelled his chair and pinned Kira against his desk.

The hardwood edge was cutting into her back.

Kira whimpered.

The man's hands were lighting a fire on her skin.

He was standing now, his broad chest pressing down over her delicate frame.

She was lying on her back on the mahogany desk with her legs dangling above the ground.

All her personal space was invaded and then occupied by the man, who was getting more aggressive.

Kira broke out in a cold sweat.

She couldn't help it.

The memory of their first night came flooding back.

It was a rainy night, much like now.

He was drunk as he climbed into bed and on top of her

Without a word, he rammed into her and kept going, despite her tearful pleas for him to stop.

He never stopped for the entire night.

Kira felt the same suffocating dread as Austyn planted one knee between her thighs and pushed himself into her.

She burst into tears.

Austyn pulled up when he sensed her trembling.

The sight of her tears stopped him dead in his tracks.

'What's wrong?' he asked, his voice hoarse with pent-up desire.

Stopping just as he was enveloped by the tight, wet warmth of her, it was killing him.

"It hurts...." Kira sniffled.

Austyn stared at her in shock

He was moving gently enough, remembering her complaint last time.

He'd waited until her body was ready for him even though his manhood had become so engorged that it was almost painful. How could it still hurt?

His look of disbelief mixed with forced restraint and unfulfilled lust sent a sharp stab through her heart.

"It's not your fault,' she snivelled. 'The inkstone's hurting my back."

Austyn stared at her fixedly before blowing out an impatient breath

He pulled her up into his arms and let her hang on to him like a koala.

Then he swept the offending inkstone along with the files off the desk before laying her back down.

Her red eyes and wet cheeks rankled him.

Grabbing a box of tissue off the floor, he yanked out one piece and ran it roughly over her face.

Having lived with a bunch of gung-ho soldiers for years, Austyn was not used to treating someone with kid gloves.

He would give a whining crybaby in his unit an order for two hundred push-ups and twenty laps around the track, not a piece of tissue. Kira winced.

The man must have scrubbed off a layer of skin off her face!

Austyn put one hand between her bottom and the desk while he lifted her hips with the other.

This time, she didn't cry.....

The next morning

Austyn woke up to a feeling of crushing weight on his chest.

Kira was resting her head on the place almost directly above his heart.

or pillow

Her arms and legs were wrapped around his body like she was using him as a bolster

Her smooth, naked back was blemished by a scatter of red marks.

He'd left those marks on her, as he gripped her tiny waist and took her right there on the desk, her soft moans spurring him on.....

Starting to feel hot again, Austyn took a deep breath.

He extricated himself from their tangled web of limbs and got out of bed.

In the bathroom, Austyn stared at the lightly stubbled face in the mirror.

It was well after midnight when they finally finished.

Austyn took a shower and came out of the bathroom in a foul mood.

He was irritated by his loss of control.

It wasn't the first time it happened.

His willpower deserted him as soon as Kira came closer, within arm's reach.

Casting another glance at the woman still curled up in bed, Austyn strode out of the bedroom and went to his study.

The room looked like it had been visited by a tornado.

The confidential contracts were strewn on the floor, unreviewed.

The dry inkstone lay on its side next to a paperweight.

It was a good thing that his computer had its own desk

Austyn restored everything to their old place.

He leaned back in his chair, kneading his temples.

Last night was so out of character for him.

It wasn't the first time, and he was sure it wasn't going to be the last time.

Austyn shook the distracting thought out of his mind and went to work.

Breakfast was waiting for him when he went downstairs.

Elsie greeted her young master with a bright smile, 'Good morning. You're right on

"Morning. Could you make me a cup of coffee."

'Of course."

The housekeeper went into the kitchen.

A coffee machine started humming.

A minute later, she came back with a steaming cup of coffee, black with no sugar.

Elsie glanced at the stairs leading up to the second floor.

She heard no movement upstairs.

Standing beside Austyn's chair, Elsie caught the love bites on his neck.

So that was why Kira was sleeping in.

time."

Elsie cleared her throat and hid a smile. 'I trust you must've had a good night's sleep. Young Madam must have been delighted when you decided to help her."

An Ulterior Motive

"What did you say?' Austyn looked up from his plate. "What do you mean, "I decided to help her?"

"Um, with her job application, of course,' Elsie blurted. 'Young Madam sent her resume to the M Group yesterday, but she didn't get a call. She waited the whole day. You should've seen the look on her face. She was crushed."

A dark shadow flitted across Austyn's face. "She wanted me to give her a position at the M Group?"

"Oh, that's not it,' Elsie shook her head. 'She didn't know the M Group belongs to the McCarthy family when she sent in the resume. I was the one who told her. I also advised her to come to you. If you could put in a good word for her, she stands a much better chance of getting in." Austyn snorted.

He sat back in his chair and crossed his arms.

So that was why she acted so strange last night.

Waiting for him at the door.
