Breakout
Chapter 9: Breakout
After what seemed like forever, she came back to her senses.
“Anita, tell me this is a lie.” Kate spat in a second.
“I would never lie to you. I called him countless times last night, but he didn’t pick up. The minute I texted him that people needed to know what was coming for them, he called me and warned me not to spit out any speech. Kate I have been feeling weak since then. I don’t know what to you.”
“Jesus Christ! Tell me this is a joke Anita. How could you keep quiet then? You need to let people know. Do you know how many lives will be ended if you refused to speak?”
“You don’t understand and you don’t have to understand Kate.”
“Anita you can’t do this.”
“Kate, Thomas is my man. I have to obey him.”
“I am not asking you to disobey him. I just need you to be safe for me that’s all. This is so risky Anita.”
“Whatever it is, I just have to pull this through for him.”
“So what about your safety?” Kate asked worriedly.
“He assured me of that. He said I will be fine.”
“Hmm I hope so. Come and have breakfast dear.” Kate then said with hope in her voice as she walked towards Anita, helped her stand up and held her to the simple dinning area to have their breakfast.
Inside Madam Cross’ office.
“Andre, you don’t need to complain about anything if Anita is yet to. She agreed to this, so you have no choice but to join her.” Madam Cross said to Andre as she tried her best to keep a straight face at the presence of this charming dude at her front.
Sitting up, Andre looked straight into Madam Cross’ eyes. “How sure are you that she will be fine?” he asked fearlessly.
Madam Cross froze.
She never expected that question from him. How could a man like him care so much about a girl who clearly does not give a fuck about you?
She had once witnessed Anita conversing with Andre a few times, and from her expression during those moment, Anita was never finding him funny or pleasing to the eye, so why was he doing this?
“She will be fine, everyone will be.” Madam Cross said to him, trying to convince him to follow-up.
Not long after, Madam Cross heard a knock on her door.
“Come in!” she said loud.
The door then opened and there she was.
“Hello ma’am, you asked to see me.” she said immediately she entered.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Yes I did Anita. I think your assistant has some issues with the assignment later today and I think it has to do with your safety. You should sort things out.” she said to anita and focused on her work.
Anita froze.
Has some issues? My safety?
In the long passage, just outside of Madam Cross’ office stood Anita and Andre.
“Are you kidding me?”
“What do you mean? Of course not.”
“What business do you have with this. You’re my assistant and I except you to go anywhere with me without objection just like I had agreed to. Why do you want to ruin my job?”
“I am not trying to ruin your job Anita.”
“5pm today, don’t forget.” she then said and walked out.
Andre stood ad he watched her leave.
There was something this woman just couldn’t figure out and he could feel it.
Rubbing his forehead, he left as well.

4:50pm Arc Oil N’ Gas
Anita arrived at Arc Oil N’ Gas with Andre secretly. On getting there, they secured a good spot and stayed there, observing everything that was going on in the fuel station.
“I wonder why nothing has happened. Are you sure your source is genuine?” Andre asked Anita after they had stayed there for over thirty minutes with nothing to show.
“Just be quiet Andre. I don’t need your opinion. Be patient.” she said, rolling her eyes.
“Being with you is patience, so I have it in abundance.”
“Are you mocking me?” Anita asked, ready to attack him.
“Not at all!” he responded quickly, lifting his hands so as to save himself.
“Look!” Anita spat immediately.
Andre then picked up his camera and focused.
A man dressed in a prisoner’s attire walked into the fuel station with a big can in hand. When he got there, he grabbed the can of a man who had just bought fuel, he opened in and threw in a cigarette, causing people who were watching at that moment to scream in shock.
Everywhere scattered as fire exploded, moving in different direction.
People had seen the man entered, but they had no idea what his plot was and was never sure of what he intended to do with the can when he had taken it from the stranger. Before they could react, it was already so late.
Sure was going round the station with full force.
Anita and Andre took countless steps backwards, while catching every glimpse of the incident.
Firefighters appeared at the scenes and got to work, but no matter how they tried, no one could stop the flames.
It was then they discovered that the whole tanks in the station was leaking and had been leaking before the incident.
People who were at the back of the building were burning as loud cries was all over the place.
Painful screams could be heard as the security men rushed in, trying to save as many as they could.
They had never experienced an incident of such every since their career as this seemed like something that had been planned.
“Are you capturing everything?” Anita shouted in Andre’s ear a she held his sleeve.
This was shocking to her. She never thought of it as this.
“Oh no!” She felt so guilty as a tear slipped out of her eyes.
Was this what she signed for? No way! Thomas would have to explain himself as this was totally unacceptable.
