Chapter 668
Chapter 668 That Woman Has AIDS
Candy looked at Chloe with some confusion, as Chloe had never acted like this before.
When Candy was about to ask Chloe if something was bothering her, the door to their private room opened, and a server came in carrying their dishes. Chloe immediately put on a smile and said, "Let's eat."
Candy glanced at Chloe but decided to keep her thoughts to herself; perhaps she was just overthinking things.
During the meal, Candy kept offering Chloe more food.
"Chloe, try this, it's delicious!" She even offered her fork directly to Chloe.
Usually, Chloe would have just taken it, but today, she used a different fork to pick up the food and placed it on her own plate.
Candy felt something was off about Chloe's behavior today.
To test it, Candy pretended she wanted some of the pasta on Chloe's plate. As she reached for it with her fork, Chloe quickly intervened, blocking her with her other hand. "Hold on!" Chloe said urgently.
Candy froze, unsure why Chloe was reacting so strongly.
"The pasta's the same," Chloe said, trying to downplay her overreaction.
"Then I'll just take the cherry tomatoes from your plate, I don't have any on mine," Candy insisted, still wanting to sample more from Chloe's plate.
Chloe, feeling a bit helpless, said, "Just stick to your own plate, okay? Please don't touch mine."
She had used her fork on everything on her plate and was genuinely worried. HIV could be transmitted through saliva.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Seeing how serious Chloe was, Candy realized there was no way she would get any of Chloe's food.
She reluctantly settled back into her seat and stopped bothering Chloe.
After the earlier commotion, Chloe had lost her appetite. She just wanted to finish quickly and avoid any more interactions.
As she wiped her mouth and prepared to leave, the server came in with a bottle of red wine.
"We didn't order any wine," Chloe said.
"This was sent over by the table outside. Enjoy your meal," the server said, setting the bottle down and preparing to leave. Chloe glanced at the man waving at them from outside and said coldly, "We don't need it. Please take it back."
The server, taken aback by Chloe's refusal, hesitated, unsure if he should take it back.
"My friend is pregnant and can't drink. We appreciate the gesture, but please return it."
Candy chimed in to support Chloe, and the server, upon hearing about the pregnancy, finally took the wine away.
"Why are there so many people who
just don't know their place in this world? Do they really think a bit of money gives them the right to anything?" Candy grumbled, having seen the group outside.
They were unbelievably unattractive and clearly nouveau riche.
"Let's just ignore them," Chloe said, grabbing her bag and preparing to leave.
She planned to take her preventive medication when she had a chance in the restroom.
Just as Chloe and Candy were about to exit the restaurant, the group that had sent the wine approached them quickly.
"Ladies, wait a moment," one of the men said.
Candy eyed him warily. "What do you want?"
"It was a mistake by my friend to send wine to a pregnant woman. Let me make it up to you with some drinks. Consider it an apology." Chloe frowned. "No, thank you. We're in a hurry."
As Chloe and Candy were about to
leave, the man became a bit agitated and reached out to grab Chloe's hand, but instead, he pulled on her bag. The force caused her bag to fall to the ground, spilling its contents everywhere.
"Oh, sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to do that. Let me help you pick it up!" the man said, bending down to gather the scattered items.
Chloe looked alarmed as she quickly reached for a small bottle that had rolled away.
The man glanced at the bottle and seemed momentarily puzzled, staring at Chloe with a mix of confusion and surprise. Chloe, her face tense with anxiety, hurriedly stuffed the bottle back into her bag.
"Let's go!" Chloe said urgently.
This time, the man didn't stop them.
As he returned to his own table, he muttered loudly enough for Chloe and Candy to hear, "That woman has AIDS. What a bad omen. I need to wash my hands quickly, don't want to catch anything!"
